The Life and Times of Santoria Junior

Everyone says that Santoria Junior looks just like me. They're right, she does. She looks just like me in every way, from her toes to the top of her head. And when people say this I understand that they are asking why, but all I do is reply, “She is my daughter.”
The Lie
The truth and the lie can be found in ones definition of daughter. Santoria Junior is my daughter in that I am the only mother she has ever know. She is my daughter because I gave her life. She is my daughter because I look after her and care for her well being, but most importantly, she is my daughter because I love her. The only way that Santoria Junior is not my daughter is that I did not conceive her. She is not of egg or sperm. I did not carry her in my belly for nine months. But still, she is my daughter.
The Truth

The Rise of Giovanni

Santoria looked at her watch just as she finished her experiment. 7 o'clock? It was so late and yet she had worked straight through without any interruptions. She ran upstairs to the kitchen to prepare dinner for the kids, it would have to be something quick and simple tonight. She rummaged the fridge and found some frozen pizzas, cheese for her and Marco, wiener for the children. How anybody could like a pizza with hot dog meat on it was beyond her comprehension but children had a way of liking things like that.

She placed the pizzas in the oven and began to set the table, she couldn't help but to think that something wasn't quite right, but before she could put her finger on it:

G: Mrs. Santoria, can I help?

S: Sure Giovanni, do you know where everything goes?

G: Yes, I've been paying special attention.

How to hard code subtitles to a video from Youtube

I have been playing around with computers for the last 25 years. That makes a quarter of century (sounds ancient, uh?), and it accounts for 85% of my life.
At age 6, when kids in my class were staring grasping additions with numbers 1 to 20, I typed on my dad's VIC20

print 10*10

and learn about multiplications.

A couple of years later, I wrote a small program to keep track of score in pocket billiard games (just a fancy version of Hello World, taking some input and doing some calculations). Since then, I managed to learn something more and I even got a degree in Computer Science.

My name is Giovanni

Giovanni is not simply an achiever, he is the ultimate of all the achievements, the goal of every human being.
One day it comes to our house a little boy, all well dressed with a suit, wearing a pink tie. Full of elegance, he said "My name is Giovanni, I am 2 years old"
Surprised, as we lived 10 miles from town, I asked "What are you doing here? Where is your parents?"
"I don't know, you have to adopt me"
And there we are, Giovanni, sometimes referred as Jovanni, comes to live with us. For my wife it was love at first sight. Me, I knew something was fishy. How  happens that a 2 years old boy wonders around by himself, dressed like a business executive? How can he speak already? I never found an answer to my questions and over time, Giovanni proved able to amaze me more than once.

Marco Junior

I will start with this post, talking about the characters I have created. There is major distinction between the characters of my childhood and the ones from my adult life. For now I will only describe the latter, as they are far more deep and interesting.

The first character to be introduced is Marco Junior who, together with Giovanni (more on him later), is the most developed of my characters. Marco Junior (a.k.a. MJ) bubbled up in my mind in the late summer 2005, while my wife (then girlfriend) and I were attending college. It became an habit to scream each other "mi-mi-mi" with a very shallow voice. At first it was the tweet of a bird, or the siren horn of an emergency vehicle, but soon the "mi-mi-mi" sound became the first screamings of Marco Junior. What a good time!

Welcome

Welcome to my personal blog, in which I hope you'll enjoy reading about my ideas and experiences. It's a work in progress I kept on hold for sometime, but I count to have it on full steam by the beginning of 2010. I keep myself busy with various activities, primarily my job as web developer. Beside my passion for programming, I play chess and I have been creating stories and improbable characters since childhood. My idea is to use this site as an outlet for my creativity, and perhaps somebody will find some amusement. Thanks for stopping by!
